We were contacted mid-morning by one of our clients asking for help, as one of their key strategic suppliers had gone into administration. This had put the client’s whole operation at risk, just as they were going into peak trading!

Within the hour, we had mobilised a senior procurement specialist, who had been given a brief and was into conference calls with lawyers and the senior operations and finance teams. A disaster recovery plan was well underway. By the following weekend, we had found alternative suppliers, and negotiated costed alternatives and migration plans together with a high level, fully costed plan to insource the operation.

Our client decided to go with the insourcing option, which was seen as the best long-term operational option and best value, despite the perceived risks of insourcing at short notice at a busy trading period. Again, we were able to de-risk the plan by pulling together a mobilisation team at short notice that worked collectively across the UK, to manage the transition for this multi-site operation seamlessly.
